Bashundhara Shuvosangho library inaugurated in Nilphamari

A new library named “Mononbari Bashundhara Shuvosangho Pathagar” was inaugurated at a remote village in Syedpur upazila of Nilphamari with the support of Bashundhara Shuvosangho.

The inauguration took place at Kismat Kamarpukur Sarkarpara under Kamarpukur Union No. 1 on Friday (22 August) afternoon.

The programme began with the recitation from the Holy Qur’an by Hafiz Maulana Mufti Md Haidar Ali. A special prayer was offered after the Friday prayers at the nearby Kalimia Jame Mosque marking the inauguration of the library.

Following the discussion, guests formally inaugurated the library by cutting a ribbon.

Speaking at the inaugural event, guests praised Bashundhara Group for its unique role in promoting education alongside business and industry.

They said the country’s leading industrial conglomerate has set an example by contributing to social development through scholarships for underprivileged meritorious students and the establishment of libraries to create readers across the country.

“A library plays a vital role in spreading education. The libraries set up by Bashundhara Shuvosangho are not only building readers but also playing a significant role in nation-building, providing opportunities for people of all ages to gain knowledge,” the speakers said.

They also urged the expansion of such libraries and expressed gratitude to Bashundhara Shuvosangho for setting up a library in such a remote area of Syedpur.

Syedpur Government Science College Principal Abul Kalam Azad, LGED Syedpur Upazila Engineer MM Ali Reza Raju, Hazarihati School and College Principal Lutfor Rahman Chowdhury, and Syedpur Adarsha Girls’ School and College Principal Md Habibur Rahman Habib, among others, attended the programme as special guests.

The event was presided over by Bashundhara Shuvosangho Syedpur unit president and senior teacher of Syedpur Adarsha Girls’ School and College Nasim Reza Shah.

It was conducted by unit general secretary Md Shafiqul Alam and sports secretary Sohel Rana, while Bashundhara Shuvosangho Director and Kaler Kantho Senior Joint Editor Zakaria Zaman delivered the welcome speech.

Kaler Kantho Kurigram correspondent and assistant professor of Kathalbari Degree College Abdul Khalek Faruk, Kamarpukur Union ward member Zahedul Islam, and several other guests also spoke at the discussion.

Bashundhara Foundation senior official Md Mamun, Golam Hossain, representatives from Bangla News 24, Bangladesh Pratidin, and Kaler Kantho, along with Bashundhara Shuvosangho members Yasir Arafat Rafi, Shah Md Hasibur Rahman, Sharif Mahdi Ashraf Jibon, and Tahsin Warid Mim were also present.

Besides the invited guests, a large number of local dignitaries and students of different ages attended the event.
