Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin said on Friday that Bangladesh will publish the recent tariff agreement with the United States only if both sides agree under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. He made the remarks while speaking to journalists in Akkelpur upazila.

Addressing the potato market situation, the adviser said Bangladesh has produced a bumper crop this year. He warned that prices may rise slightly in the next month but stressed that exports remain the only effective solution. “We are offering incentives for potato exports and creating demand in foreign markets. The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will also purchase potatoes from the market,” he said.

Bashiruddin added that the government fixed prices for potatoes stored in cold storages. “Market management, monitoring teams, and field administration are working together. All cold storages are following the fixed prices, leaving little room for syndicates,” he noted.

At 12:45pm, his helicopter landed at Gopinathpur High School field in Akkelpur, where officials from the district and upazila administrations, police, and the local union parishad welcomed him with flowers.
