The election to the Rajshahi University Central Students Union (RUCSU), Hall Council, and Students' Representative to Senate 2025 has been rescheduled.

Chief Commissioner of the election, Prof Dr F Nazrul Islam, said that the RUCSU election will now be held on 28 September, instead of the previously announced 15 September.

As per the revised schedule, distribution of nomination papers will take place from 24 August to 28 and again on 31 August, while submission of nomination papers will be accepted from 1 September to 4 and on 7 September.

Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on 8 September and 9. The preliminary list of candidates will be published on 11 September, followed by submission and settlement of objections on 14 September.

15 September has been fixed as the last date for withdrawal of candidature, and the final list of candidates will be published on 16 September.

Polling will be held on 28 September from 9:00am to 4:00pm without any break at the university's administrative building. Counting of votes and announcement of results will take place on the same day.

Earlier, on 19 August, the final voter list was published for the upcoming elections. A total of 25,152 students, including 15,468 female students, have been enlisted as eligible voters for the student body elections of the public university.

After a long gap of 35 years, students of Rajshahi University are set to regain their representative rights through the long-awaited RUCSU election.

The last RUCSU election was held during the 1989-90 academic year.

Preparations are underway in full swing to ensure smooth conduct of the polls.

According to the RUCSU constitution, student union elections are to be held annually. However, the process had been stalled for decades due to various reasons.
