United International University (UIU) organized a program titled “Future of AI & Cyber-Security: Govt-Academia-Industry Conclave 2025” on 20 September 2025 (Saturday) at 10:00 AM at UIU Campus.
A total of 250+ key technology professionals, distinguished experts, policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders engaged in practical discussions on the evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cyber-Security in Bangladesh.
The program opened with two keynote presentations made by Prof. Khondaker A. Mamun, Director - MSCSE Program & Director - IRIIC, UIU and Prof. Dr. Shohrab Hossain - Professor, Department of CSE, UIU on Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security, respectively.
Keynote speeches were followed by a high-level panel discussion titled Industry-Academia-Government Dialogue on AI & Cyber Security which explored the opportunities and challenges of AI and cyber-security integration in Bangladesh and included contributions from leading figures representing government institutions, academic bodies, and industry sectors - Dr. Imadur Rahman, Managing Director & CEO - Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited, Nurul Hai, Managing Director - Startup Bangladesh, Shariful Alam - Chief Executive Officer - Felicity IDC Limited, Dr. Anika Ali, Director - Techno Green Carbon Limited, SAR Md. Muinul Islam, PMP, CTO & Director - LankaBangla Securities Plc along with academicians.
The program was graced by the Guests of Honour which included - Mohammad Wahid Hossain ndc, Chairman - Bangladesh Energy & Power Research Council, Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources, Md. Sibgat Ullah, Additional Inspector General, Chief of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Bangladesh Police, Mashrur Arefin - Managing Director & CEO - The City Bank Limited and Chairman, Association of Bankers Bangladesh (ABB) and Dr. M. Rezwan Khan, Professor Emeritus - UIU & Chairman, Power Grid Bangladesh. Additionally, representatives from academia, research centers, and industry delivered guest speeches, highlighting cross-sector perspectives on advancing AI and strengthening cyber resilience.
Chaired by Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia, Vice-Chancellor, UIU, the program saw active participation by the distinguished academicians including Dr. Suman Ahmmad, Head of CSE, UIU and Prof. Hasan Sarwar - Dean, School of Science & Engineering, UIU. Proud alumni of CSE, UIU and current students also took part in this insightful discussion on advancing frontier technologies through research, education, and Public-private collaborative initiatives. Following the formal sessions, participants attended real-life AI solutions demonstrations. This conclave created a vital platform for dialogue across government, academia, and industry. It emphasized the strategic importance of AI adoption and cyber-security preparedness in Bangladesh’s digital transformation journey. By convening stakeholders from diverse sectors, UIU reinforced its role as a hub for innovation, thought leadership, and cross-sector collaboration.
