A Dhaka court on Monday showed prominent singer and former Awami League lawmaker Momotaz Begom and two others arrested in separate murder cases connected with the student mass uprising.
The other arrestees are former home secretary Md Jahangir Alam and former superintendent of police Md Asaduzzaman. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Partha Bhadra issued the order following separate petitions filed by the police.
Momotaz was shown arrested in the case filed over the killing of Shaon Mufti with Kotwali Police Station, Jahangir was shown arrested in Shamim murder case filed with the city's Dhanmandi Police Station, and Asaduzzaman was shown arrested in Jatrabari's Mainuddin killing case.
Meanwhile, the court also placed former MP Sabina Akter Tuhin on two-day remand and the general secretary of Dhaka South City Awami League, Shah Alam Murad, on one-day remand in two separate cases.
Earlier on 17 April 2025, Murad was arrested from the capital’s Uttara and placed on remand for Motaleb murder case during the anti-discrimination student movement filed under the Dhanmondi police station.
