Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said while necessary reforms are crucial, it must be kept in mind that delaying the elections could lead to consequences for the government as well as the entire nation.

Jamaat Ameer mad this comment in an interview with a private television channel on Saturday.

Shafiqur Rahman said the interim government must implement rapid reforms in the judiciary, administration, and election systems.

He also stressed the need for unity among people of all opinions and beliefs for the sake of national interest and the need to establish a society based on equality and justice.

On 5 August, following a mass uprising of students and citizens, Sheikh Hasina resigned from her position as Prime Minister and fled to India.

This marked the end of the 15-year dark chapter of the Awami League's oppressive rule. Just five days before her departure, the government had banned Jamaat-e-Islami.
