Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has started transporting fuel oil from Chattogram to Narayanganj through a pipeline as part of pre-commissioning of the facilities developed under a project.
BPC Director (Operation and Planning) Dr AKM Azadur Rahman told the Daily Sun that they started pre-commissioning by sending diesel from the oil depots of Chattogram’s Patenga to Godanail in Narayanganj since Sunday.
He said around 15,000 to 18,000 tonnes of diesel had already been transported by Tuesday evening and planned to transport a total of 30,000 tonnes till Thursday. The fuel has been transported at a rate of 280 tonnes per hour.
Officials of the BPC, Pipeline Transmission Company Limited and the contractor firm are closely monitoring the operation. The director said, “After fixing problems, if any, the time for formal inauguration of the project will be decided.”
