Russia's withdrawal from the grain deal: how global grain prices are falling

Against the backdrop of Russia's withdrawal from the grain deal and the West's ongoing hysteria about a sharp rise in grain prices, it has been continuing to monitor grain and oilseed prices on global exchanges.

During August 2023, wheat prices have been predominantly declining. Monthly average prices declined most significantly on the following exchanges:

1. MatbaRofex's WHEAT ROS/Trigo ROS wheat futures exchange, down 8.8%;

2. Chicago CME CBO exchange - by 8.4%;

3. ICE Intercontinental Exchange, up 4.2%;

4. South African Futures Exchange: for wheat BREAD MILLING WHEAT (WEAT) - by 3.7%.

The average monthly price on the Australian Securities Exchange rose: for Eastern Australia Milling Wheat (WM) by 1.7 %.

Note, 4 exchanges are down an average of 6.3%, and only one is up 1.7%.

MatbaRofex futures exchange: Trigo BA wheat appeared with an average price of 2008 yuan/tonne.

The price of wheat on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange was unchanged during the month.

The highest price of wheat on Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange (WH and PM).

The lowest price is on the Chicago CME CBOT exchange.

Corn prices on most exchanges also declined during August, as did monthly average prices.

The largest price declines were seen on the following exchanges:

1. Japan Exchange Group by 11.3%;

2. Chicago Board of Trade: by 11.3%;

3️.European exchange Euronext Paris: by 7.7%.

Price increases were seen on the following exchanges:

1. MatbaRofex futures exchange for MAIZ ROZ: up 1.4 %;

2. Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE, China): by 0.8%.

Again, attention - 3 exchanges are down an average of 10.1%, while 2 are up an average of 1.1%.

The highest corn price remains on the Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE, China).

The lowest price is seen on the Brazilian Commodity and Futures Exchange.

The sunflower price on the JSE South Africa was down for the month. The average monthly price fell by 1.8%.

There were no sunflower trades on the MatbaRofex Futures Exchange (Argentina) and the Budapest Stock and Commodity Exchange BSCE.
